On April 1, the 64th Student Council US:SUM of SSU introduced the new student representative mascot, ‘SSUA,’ through the official Student Council Social Network Service (SNS). SSUA is modeled after the white horse, a symbol of SSU. It was introduced as a ‘strong and cute horse, representing the students of SSU.’ Before its public introduction, SSUA has been used on the student council’s SNS feed and photo frame, attracting the attention of many Soongsilians.
Through its official SNS, the Student Council announced, “SSUA was born not only as a mascot representing the student council like before, but also to create a new mascot that represents the students of SSU.” This announcement seems to reflect the confusion caused by using different mascots and the issue on mascot changes with each new student council. Soongsilians’ reactions to SSUA included ‘cute’ and ‘looking forward to its future use.’
Currently, the Student Council has used SSUA in its SNS and various projects. With the introduction of SSUA, the unified student representative mascot, the previous practice of changing mascots annually with each new council has stopped. SSUA is expected to be used continuously in the future.
